What is Christian Dogma?

A billboard with five of the ten commandments, the basis of a set of beliefs Christians live by.

Christian dogma is a set of beliefs that Christians hold to be true. Dogma is usually defined as a belief that is not open to question or debate. Christian dogma includes beliefs about God, Jesus Christ, the Bible, and other matters of faith.

What is Christian dogma? It is the powerful unwavering statements of faith that make up the entirety of our religion. I will give examples first of portions of those beliefs and then I will dive deeper into each so that you can get a strong perspective of the relationship Christians have with God.

Examples of dogmas of the church:

A picture of an open Bible with a drawing of Jesus wearing a crown of thorns and a drawing of a white dove both overlapping the Bible.
Jesus Christ is the Son of God and the Savior of humanity. The Bible is the inspired word of God. The Holy Spirit ascends on Jesus after His baptism in the form of a dove.

I believe in one God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and of all things visible and invisible.

And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God, begotten of the Father before all worlds; God of God, Light of Light, very God of very God; begotten, not made, being of one substance with the Father, by whom all things were made. Who, for us men and for our salvation, came down from heaven, and was incarnate by the Holy Spirit of the virgin Mary, and was made man; and was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate; He suffered and was buried; and the third day He rose again, according to the Scriptures; and ascended into heaven, and sits on the right hand of the Father; and He shall come again, with glory, to judge the quick and the dead; whose kingdom shall have no end.

And I believe in the Holy Ghost, the Lord and Giver of Life; who proceeds from the Father and the Son; who with the Father and the Son together is worshipped and glorified; who spoke by the prophets. And I believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. I acknowledge one baptism for the remission of sins; and I look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.

Some Christian dogmas are essential to the faith, such as the belief that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and the Savior of humanity. Other Christian dogmas are less essential, such as the specific details of how salvation and spiritual gifts work. Christians may disagree about non-essential dogma, but they still share a common faith in Jesus Christ.

Christian dogma often includes beliefs about the Bible. For example, most Christians believe that the Bible is the inspired word of God. This means that the Bible is not just a book of stories or moral lessons, but it is actually the word of God a divine book of sacred text. Christians also believe that the Bible is authoritative, meaning that it is trustworthy and can be used as a guide for Christian living.

Christian dogma also includes beliefs about Jesus Christ. For example, Christians believe that Jesus was fully human and fully divine. This means that he was both like us and completely unlike us. Christians also believe that Jesus died on the cross to save us from our sins and that he rose from the dead to give us new life.

Christian dogma can be a source of comfort and strength for believers. It can also be a source of division among Christians. When people disagree about Christian doctrines, it can lead to arguments and even splits within churches. However, Christian dogma is ultimately based on faith, and Christians are called to love one another despite their differences.

One such example is that of the Holy Spirit or Holy Ghost. The Holy Spirit is often thought of as a ghost because it is considered to be a spirit. It is also known as the Holy Ghost because it is believed to be the spirit of God.

The Holy Spirit is part of the Holy Trinity, which includes the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Christians believe that the Holy Trinity is one God in three persons. The Holy Spirit is responsible for guiding Christians and helping them to grow in their faith. Additionally, the Holy Spirit helps Christians to understand the Bible and to live according to God’s will.

The Holy Spirit is an important part of Christianity, and Christians believe that He is a vital part of their faith. The Holy Spirit helps Christians to grow in their faith and to understand the Bible. Additionally, the Holy Spirit helps Christians to live according to God’s will.

First and foremost God, Who is God?

No matter which of the different denominations, all Christians trust in the love of God. The Roman Catholic Church teaches that this love is central to who God is and that it should be at the heart of everything believers do. The church also teaches that love is the basis for all human relationships. So no matter what your beliefs are, if you love God, you are living in accordance with His will.

1 John 4:7-8 in the Holy Scriptures says:  Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.

According to the Old Testament beginning, Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Therefore, Christians stand on the fact that God, who loves fully and unconditionally, created everything by speaking it into existence.

All except for human beings, which He created by his own hands and breathed His own breath into both male and female; Making them in HIs image and giving them dominion over all the earth and all living creatures.

What Happened when man disobeyed God?

An oil painting of Adam and Eve being sent out of the Garden of Eden by an angel.
Adam and Eve were cast out of the Garden and God’s favor.

When Adam and Eve disobeyed God, they sinned. This original sin has been passed down to all of humanity, and it is the reason why we are all sinful. We are separated from God because of our sinfulness, but He still loves us and desires for us to be close to Him.

What does original sin mean? It means that because of Adam’s disobedience, all people have inherited a sinful nature. We are born with a desire to do things that are against God. This doesn’t mean that we are evil, but it does mean that we are not perfect like God is perfect.

There is no difference between Jew and Gentile, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. (Holy Bible, Romans 3:22-23)

We all make choices that disobey God, even though we may not want to. original sin also means that we are born separated from God. Because of our sinfulness, we cannot have a relationship with Him unless we repent and ask for His forgiveness.

Original sin is a difficult concept to understand, but it is important to remember that even though we are sinful, God still loves us and desires for us to be close to Him.

How can we have a relationship with God?

He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to die for our sins so that we could be forgiven and have eternal life with Him. The second part of all Christian church dogma is embraced by every denomination and that is verified in the New Testament of the Christian Bible. The Apostle Paul wrote to a group of churches that grew under his teaching in Rome.

Romans 5:8-9 says it this way; God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Since we have now been justified by His blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through Him!

From this, and the famous verses in John 3:16-17  For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him; we can see that God’s plan was to make a way for the human race to be brought back into a right relationship with Himself all along.

He came into the world in a human form as Jesus the Son of God. John 1:1-3 explains: In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through Him all things were made; without Him nothing was made that has been made.

Verse 14 of John chapter 1 gives light as to who this was. The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

So, Who is The Holy Spirit?

The Holy Spirit is the third person of the Holy Trinity. He is equal with the Father and Son, but He is not as well-known because His work is often done in the background. The Holy Spirit is also known as the Holy Ghost.

The Holy Spirit was involved in creation just as the Father and Son were. In Genesis 1:2, we see that “the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.”

He is also active throughout the Old Testament. For example, He filled Samson with strength (Judges 14:6), led the Israelites through the wilderness (Exodus 13:21), and anointed King Saul to prophesy (1 Samuel 10:6).

The Holy Spirit really comes to the forefront in the New Testament. He is promised by Jesus to His disciples (John 14:16) and He descends upon Jesus at His baptism (Matthew 3:16). After Jesus’s death and resurrection, He is given as a gift to all believers (Acts 2:38).

The Holy Spirit helps us in our daily lives. He advocates on our behalf and teaches us (John 14:26), gives us wisdom (Luke 12:12), and enables us to share the gospel with others (Acts 1:8).

He also gives Christians spiritual gifts so that we can serve God and others in unique ways (1 Corinthians 12:4-11). These gifts include things like teaching, preaching, healing, and prophesying.

Differences in the Christian faith:

As a whole the Christian church, the most widely practiced religion, agrees on these basics. However, Martin Luther, who started the Protestant Reformation in the 1500’s, disagreed with some of the Roman Catholic Church’s practices. A main issue for him was that the church was selling indulgences.

An indulgence is when someone pays money to have their sins forgiven. Martin Luther thought this was wrong and that people were misunderstanding what it meant to be a Christian.

He also disagreed with the idea of the Pope being the head of the church. He believed that each person was responsible for their own relationship with God and that no one else could take that away or control it.

These beliefs led Martin Luther to start his own church, which became known as Lutheranism.

Now there are many different types of Christianity with different beliefs. Some of these include Catholicism, Protestantism, Orthodoxy, and Evangelical.

Even within these groups, there are subgroups with slightly different beliefs. For example, within Protestantism there are Baptists, Methodists, Presbyterians, and Episcopalians.

The main thing that all Christians have in common is that they believe in Jesus Christ as their Savior and that He died on the cross for their sins. By repenting of their sins and accepting Jesus into their lives, they can have eternal life.

What is The Good News?

The very nature of God was put into the human heart from the beginning and we long to know the truth. We search out what it is and once we have found the saving truth of the love of God for this suffering world we can once again walk in righteousness with our maker.

Our human minds have attempted to define the thoughts of God, but without knowing the facts from fiction in human history we can not understand that nothing has to do with our ability to do good works. And there is no such thing as us having to “make our own way”.

According to the Holy Bible from the origin of the history of the Jewish people to the ancient Greeks and Romans to today’s Christian church, we have come a long way and stayed the same. True servants of the Word of God stick to sound doctrine coming into alignment with God’s Word.

P.S. (Plain and Simple) What is Christian Dogma?

Christianity is not an act of social psychology, or a BOGO/free shipping offer. It is a solid trust in a good thing; The Life, death, and resurrection of the Son of God, the creator of everything, who loves us with unending, undeserved love and offers us eternal life with Him in Heaven.

And all this just for asking for His forgiveness of all the wrong things we have done and thought as well as the right things we have left undone. We can continue the Christian life by reading the Bible and speaking with God daily (praying).
